As a part of our series about supporting business development in Texas, global fashion, art, and philanthropy projects we had the pleasure of interviewing Oksana Brenzovych

Oksana Brenzovych, a contemporary Ukrainian artist, has garnered much recognition for her exceptional talent and unique perspective. Born in Uzhhorod (Ukraine) in 1976, she has solidified her place in the art world by winning the esteemed all-Ukrainian award “Woman of the Third Millennium” in May 2021. Her captivating works have been showcased at prestigious events such as EXPO-2020 in Dubai, leaving audiences in awe.

Drawing inspiration from the Transcarpathian school of painting, Oksana’s art beautifully embodies the authentic essence of Transcarpathia. Through her expressive brushstrokes, her paintings seem to come alive before our very eyes, evoking a sense of vitality and movement. The canvas itself appears to breathe and sway, allowing us to immerse ourselves in its tactile beauty. Engaging with Oksana’s works offers a glimpse into the true essence of our existence, gently guiding us into a realm of profound appreciation and joy. Her art serves as a delicate conduit, facilitating a deeper connection with the real world and an invitation to savor the pleasures of life.

N.G. We appreciate your participation! Before we begin, our audience is curious to learn more about you. Could you please share your “backstory”, what inspired you to pursue this career, and where you stand now?

O.B. My artistic journey intertwines with the vibrant cultural fabric of Transcarpathia. Through my abstract style, I transcend the realm of straightforward representations and delve into the very heart of the Carpathian people and their surroundings. With my work, I offer a metaphorical reflection of nature, presenting enchanting imagery and evanescent emotional experiences.

In my paintings, the use of bold, vibrant, and ornamental colors symbolizes an insatiable thirst for life, a testament to the resilience amidst the backdrop of war in Ukraine. My art transcends the surface, delving into the depths of human experiences, emotions, and the unyielding spirit of homeland.

N.G. Describe the best (most meaningful) piece of art you’ve created and what was your inspiration

O.B. One of my most cherished artworks, “Zhovten” (October), holds a special place in my heart as it beautifully expresses my deep affection for autumn.

To me, autumn transcends being just a season; it is a kaleidoscope of emotions and cherished memories. I am captivated by the resplendent colors of fall – the warm oranges, deep reds, and golden yellows that transform the world into a nature-made masterpiece. These vibrant hues come alive in “Zhovten,” where every brushstroke and shade embodies the essence of autumn in Transcarpathia.

In this artwork, I seamlessly blend my distinctive abstract style with the rich and emotive colors of fall. “Zhovten” serves as a testament to my ability to translate personal experiences and affections into a universal language of art. It is not only admired for its aesthetic allure but also revered for its capacity to deeply resonate with viewers, inviting them into my world and exposing them to the enchantment of my beloved season.

N.G. In your opinion, what are the biggest challenges faced by emerging artists?

O.B. In today’s digital and information age, emerging artists face a significant challenge. While the internet and social media platforms provide unprecedented opportunities to showcase their work to a global audience, they also present obstacles.

The digital realm offers a double-edged sword. On one hand, it empowers artists to easily share their work, connect with audiences, and access previously unavailable resources. This democratization of art has allowed many talents to bypass traditional gatekeepers like galleries and curators.

However, on the other hand, the vast amount of information and content online makes it incredibly difficult for individual artists to stand out. The art world has become more accessible, but also more saturated. As a result, artists find themselves in a highly competitive environment where gaining visibility is a considerable challenge. In this crowded digital space, creating a distinct and memorable presence requires not only artistic talent but also strategic marketing and networking skills.

N.G. How do you define success as a visual artist?

O.B. Redefining success in the realm of visual art goes beyond traditional measures like sales or popularity. It encompasses personal and professional achievements, deeply rooted in artistic fulfillment and impact.

To me, success is all about genuine self-expression and staying true to my artistic vision. It entails creating art that not only pleases the eye but also engages the emotions and intellect, reflecting my values, experiences, and perspectives. This authenticity in my work is essential for my sense of accomplishment.

Another crucial aspect of success is the ability to evoke emotions and stimulate thought in my audience. When viewers connect with my art on a profound level, whether it prompts introspection, elicits joy, or sparks a sense of solidarity, it signifies success for me as an artist. It’s about making a lasting impact that goes beyond the visual experience.

Moreover, success includes the growth and evolution of my artistic skills and style. Continuously pushing the boundaries of my creativity, experimenting with new techniques, and evolving my approach to art is a testament to my success. This constant development is vital in staying fresh and relevant in the art world.

I see success as the ability to sustain myself through my art. Achieving financial stability and independence through my artistic practice is a significant goal, as it grants me the freedom to pursue my creative endeavors without external limitations.

N.G. Can you please give us your favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share how that was relevant to you in your life?

O.B. «You’ll never know how to collect the puzzle of your life correctly. But your heart will lead you, just listen to it…..»

This exquisite and profound quote highlights the vital role of intuition and emotional guidance in navigating life’s intricacies. Its profound resonance with me stems from its embodiment of the principle of following our inner voice and emotions to discover our true path in life.
