Perhaps this painting is for a child’s room… but don’t rush, it’s not that simple. With her there is something to keep silent about for adults too.
I love non-obvious plots, where the viewer has room to wander around the picture and figure out my plan. Without expecting it, very often at the end of painting a picture I discover a different meaning from the intended one. Very often my paintings “do a quest” for me. In this painting I wanted to depict a cozy Chinese courtyard, in a different color palette and style, but something went wrong and the painting itself took the other direction. Instead of a bright red balcony and a withered tree, pink ideas, dreams and dreams appeared. Apparently, my mood and feeling were light and the colors felt it. This is one of those paintings, I feel, that painted itself. Along with the philosophical overtones, there is a childish lightness here. Pink dogs are like children’s dreams, they are similar, but from different angles they look different and mean different things. Multiplicity of meanings, which means universality, imagery means individuality.
I love unexpected color combinations: pink and green are not the most obvious combination. For me, paints are a living substance. When mixed on a palette or canvas, they always win me over. I am happy about these victories.
